University of Bristol

The University of Bristol is a leading centre of legal education with an international reputation for high quality research across a wide range of specialisms. The University is a member of the Worldwide Universities Network, a grouping of 18 research-led institutions of international standing, and of the Russell Group of universities, an association of 20 major research-active universities of the UK. Bristol supports both individual scholarship and interdisciplinary or thematic research of the highest quality. Professor Novitz and Dr Gammage within the field of international trade law and development, and Dr Tsagas within the field of company law and corporate governance will contribute to the WP2 of the SMART project in terms of conceptualising problems encountered by market actors and considering multidisciplinary possible solutions.

The reputation of the University of Bristol for world-leading research has been unequivocally affirmed in the national UK Research Excellence Framework exercise in 2014 in which we are ranked 5th nationally for research-intensity. Over half of our research activity is considered to be in the top two categories: world-leading (4*) and internationally excellent (3*).
